Front Counter to walk the red carpet at the 2008 ARIA Music Awards
Posted Thursday, October 2 2008
It's official! Front Counter will be heading to Sydney for the 2008 ARIA Music Awards where the band will walk the red carpet.

Inspired by the thriving 90’s pop-punk scene, the melodic sounds of 60’s pop and the punch of modern day rock, Front Counter deliver a fast food fix of catchy, energetic rock songs.

‘A Toast To You and Me’ was recorded in 2007 with accredited music producer Richard Stolz (Behind Crimson Eyes, Bodyjar, After The Fall) and Lindsay Gravina (Magic Dirt, Shihad, Faker, Jet, The Living End). The EP’s debut single ‘Whats Your Name’ picked up rotation on Triple M, community radio and Triple J in August, and the band performed on an episode of Network Ten’s ‘Neighbours’ in August broadcast throughout Australia, UK and Europe.

Front Counter have supported many high profile artists including Behind Crimson Eyes (AUS), The Butterfly Effect (AUS), Dopamine (UK); a support slot on the coveted Taste Of Chaos tour playing alongside bands including The Used, Rise Against, Aiden and the Gallows; and more recently a spot supporting Bon Jovi at Melbourne's Sidney Myer Music Bowl where the band performed in front of 15,000 people.

“The song is about, wanting to get out of everything,” explains Rhys Thompson (Guitar/Vocals). “After a while, it sometimes starts to seem as though you haven't actually been able to take a breath for a long time.”

“We wrote the lyrics when we were in the middle of a very stressful and hectic period. We had just had a lineup change, so we were desperately trying to get our stuff sorted for upcoming gigs, whilst trying to write new songs, organise studio time, as well as each of us having to juggle our own work and relationship commitments. There are only seven days in a week, and it can sometimes get a bit much.”

“For me, the song was also written just after I had finished uni. I moved from doing a few hours of uni and a few hours of work a week, to spending pretty much my whole week either working my job or playing with the band. So I guess that amount of commitment freaked me out, and sometimes all you want to do it get away.”

”Front Counter have the knack for writing ridiculously catchy songs which after a few listens, stick in your head like leprosy” – Rave Magazine
